What “classic” actually means
A proper classic yellow rubber duck is vinyl, about 9 cm long, weighted so the beak points up. The one to buy is sealed. A duck with a squeaker is a different toy, and the squeaker is what you regret at 6am. Unweighted ducks lie on their sides and look drowned.

Lilalu (Germany) and BUD-style collectables are the other honest category: outfits, jobs, tiny medals. They are gifts for people who already have the yellow one. They are not better bath toys. Many collector ducks do not float upright — they are sculptures that happen to be duck-shaped.
